Nottingham Forest confirm…

Vitor Pereira has departed Nottingham Forest, and the club is set to name former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as his replacement. A deal for the 51-year-old is understood to be all but complete, with only final formalities remaining. Initial contact with Glasner, who left Palace at the end of last season, was made earlier in the summer.

The Austrian coach, who guided Palace to last season’s Europa Conference League crown after their 2025 FA Cup triumph, is poised to become Forest’s fifth manager in under a year.

Forest confirmed Pereira’s exit on Thursday evening, with staff members Filipe Almeida, Luis Miguel, Bruno Moura, Marco Knoop and Pedro Lopes also leaving. In a statement, the club thanked Pereira and his team for their dedication, acknowledged the bonds they built with players, staff and fans, and wished them well for the future.

Pereira was told of the decision late on Tuesday when Forest triggered a break clause in his contract, a move that caught the former Wolves boss off guard. In a message to BBC Sport, he said that while the decision came as a shock, he respected the club’s right to act in what it believes is its best interests. He expressed pride in their achievements, highlighting Premier League survival, a run to the Europa League semi-finals, and the team’s growing unity and belief. He added that he leaves with gratitude and fond memories, wishing the club continued success.

Pereira had a year remaining on his deal and had recently taken part in a London meeting to finalise transfer plans. He had mapped out a pre-season camp in Portugal, with friendlies scheduled against Blackburn, Vitoria Guimaraes, Sporting Lisbon, Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona and Udinese. A tournament involving Udinese and Barcelona was confirmed earlier this week. Talks over a new contract were paused last month, though Pereira had intended to revisit them later in the year.

Appointed in February as Forest’s fourth manager of the season after Sean Dyche, Pereira led the team to 16th in the Premier League and the Europa League semi-finals, where they lost to eventual winners Aston Villa. It was Forest’s first European semi-final since 1984, and their 5-0 victory at Sunderland marked their biggest top-flight away win since 1995. Last season also saw Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou dismissed, with Dyche lasting 114 days before Pereira took charge.
