Brentford Poised to…

Brentford is close to securing a deal for Burnley striker Jaidon Anthony for a fee of £15 million, potentially rising to £17 million with add-ons.

The 26-year-old is set to sign a four-year contract with an option for an additional year, with his medical examination tentatively arranged for Monday.

Last season, Anthony made an impact with nine goals and four assists in 38 games across all competitions, although it wasn’t sufficient to keep the Clarets from being relegated.

The prospect of joining Brentford is appealing to Anthony, a London native who began his career at Arsenal‘s academy. Bees manager Keith Andrews believes he would be a great match for the team’s playing style.

In addition, Brentford has recently acquired defender Jannik Schuster from RB Salzburg in a deal that could reach £16 million with add-ons.

After leaving Arsenal in 2016 without featuring for the first team, Anthony made a name for himself at Bournemouth following loan spells at Weymouth and Leeds United.

He joined Burnley on loan from Bournemouth in 2024, and the deal became permanent last summer after their promotion to the Premier League activated an £8 million buy obligation.

Burnley suffered relegation after just one season in the top division and will face West Ham in their first fixture back in the Championship on August 16.

Brentford narrowly missed out on European competition, finishing ninth based on goal difference, and are set to face Tottenham in their opening Premier League match.
