Kylian Mbappe Celebrates…

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe played a pivotal role for France during their Round of 32 World Cup match against Paraguay, scoring the decisive penalty. In a match marked by tension, Mbappe felt that his team’s ability to adapt to a more physical style of play was crucial to their success.

Paraguay focused on disrupting France’s strategies and managed to do so for much of the game, until Desire Doue was fouled in the box during the second half, resulting in a penalty that Mbappe converted. The match was notably characterized by Paraguay’s aggressive tactics and the referee’s leniency, as Paraguay emerged without any bookings while France received three yellows, despite the apparent differences in physicality. France also missed Aurelien Tchouameni due to a minor injury.

‘We know how to play ugly football too’ – Mbappe

After the match, Mbappe credited Les Bleus‘ ability to adjust to a grittier style of play as key in achieving their victory.

“We anticipated the type of match we would face. If it meant getting our hands dirty, then we were prepared to do so. They expected us to come in and play elegantly, but we know how to get physical as well. That was their game plan, and it didn’t affect us; we came out on top,” he said in a quick interview after the match, as reported by Cadena SER.

Throughout the match, Mbappe maintained his composure despite the relentless provocation from Paraguay’s defense, even laughing at their defenders as a corner kick was being set up in the game’s dying moments. He was involved in several verbal exchanges but kept his poise.

At the final whistle, however, he was eager to express his triumph, celebrating vigorously in front of the crowd. When Paraguay’s goalkeeper Oscar Gill attempted to congratulate him, Mbappe was still absorbed in his celebration, leading Gill to toss the ball at him in frustration.
