When asked if he sensed that many were hoping for his downfall, the midfielder responded candidly.
“Yes, I think many are waiting for me to slip up because I play aggressively, which may not be to everyone’s liking. I see myself as a well-rounded player with various strengths,” he said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

“My defining traits are my competitiveness and the intensity I bring to the field. I won’t change that. I know I’ll always have critics,” he continued.
When probed about what might attract such reactions, Gavi attributed it to his passionate approach to the game.
“I can’t say exactly. Maybe it’s because I play with such passion and always give my all for the team. Not everyone appreciates that, which can frustrate some,” he added.
Prepared for Any Challenge
Even though Gavi has been rotating on the squad, he affirmed his readiness to support the team whenever needed.

“As I tell him, I’m always here for him and the team whenever needed. In a World Cup, success comes from unity and resilience,” he asserted.
The Barcelona midfielder shared insights on the encouraging message he received from coach Luis de la Fuente after the opening match.
“He advised me to remain calm, indicating that my performance aligned well with our game strategy. That’s crucial. I understand that one can step up and be key for the national team at any moment,” Gavi noted.

During the press conference, Gavi also defended Cristiano Ronaldo amidst criticism regarding the Portuguese international struggling to maintain his stature alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in terms of impact.
