Arsenal Contract…

Contract negotiations between Arsenal and players Alex Marciniak and Josh Ogunnaike have yet to yield any results, as both players’ contracts are set to expire at the end of June.

In the Premier League, contracts typically expire on June 30th, resulting in several young players leaving Arsenal at the stroke of midnight on that day.

Earlier this June, Arsenal announced the departure of 15 players from their U21s, U18s, and women’s teams as free agents, while indicating that contract discussions were ongoing for three others.

One of those players is Caitlin Foord, who has since signed an extension. However, no further updates have been provided regarding the other two, Alex Marciniak and Josh Ogunnaike.

Tom Canton has reported for Football.London that, while discussions are ongoing between the club and Marciniak as well as Ogunnaike, no significant progress has been made at this point.

This doesn’t necessarily imply that they are on the verge of leaving, as negotiations can continue even after June 30th.

Any clubs interested in signing these players will also need to negotiate a compensation fee with Arsenal, as both are under the age of 23, a process that may not always be straightforward.

Dan Casey’s transfer to Crystal Palace fell through last year despite him being out of contract with Arsenal, eventually joining Fulham later in the 2025/26 season.

While June 30th marks a key date in the world of football contracts, it does not necessarily signify a definitive outcome. Both Marciniak and Ogunnaike still have the potential to finalize new agreements with Arsenal, and should they opt for transfers, consent from the club will still be required to negotiate their fees.
