Farke Might Play That…

In the latest episode of *Don’t Go To Bed Just Yet*, Jonny Buchan, Adam Pope, and Simon Rix, the bassist for the Kaiser Chiefs, delve into Daniel Farke’s contract situation and the prospects of him signing a new deal ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

The Leeds United manager is currently under contract until the summer of 2027.

Pope commented, “You’re navigating numerous factors during negotiations, and I suspect that recruitment will be a significant aspect. No one would sign a contract if they have concerns about the recruitment process, so everything needs to proceed gradually. Therefore, I believe this is an ongoing negotiation that may evolve over the coming months. I wouldn’t be overly worried if we didn’t hear an announcement right away.”

Rix added, “I think it’s valid to say that players often want to know who their manager will be, but there have been instances, like when players signed for Manchester City, where they were uncertain about Pep Guardiola’s future. Players have joined teams despite not knowing who the manager would be.

“This might be less of a concern nowadays due to the presence of directors of football and similar roles. However, Farke likely holds a significant card in that there are several players eager to join Leeds United, and while the deals are agreed upon, they want assurance that I will be here. That’s a card he could play.”
