As RC Lens prepares for its return to the UEFA Champions League, they are reportedly interested in re-signing former forward Lois Openda (26), according to Foot Mercato.
Openda had a disappointing season in Turin, scoring only twice in 37 matches across all competitions. Since transferring from RC Lens in 2023 for €40 million, he has found the net 41 times in 93 appearances for RB Leipzig. During his time at Lens, where Les Sang et Or finished just one point behind champions Paris Saint-Germain, Openda scored 21 goals in 42 appearances.
His impressive performance at the Stade Bollaert helped Lens qualify for the UCL, but he left before their European campaign began. The Belgium international could potentially return this time, as Les Sang et Or’s sporting director, Jean-Louis Leca is actively pursuing his return, as reported by Foot Mercato. However, Openda’s salary poses a significant hurdle, and Juventus would need to cover part of it for a transfer to occur.
Additionally, there is interest from other clubs, notably from newly-promoted Premier League side Coventry City.
