As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid’s spending this summer could potentially exceed the notable 2010 overhaul, when Perez turned to Jose Mourinho to dismantle a formidable Barcelona team.
Madrid’s Summer Spending
Real Madrid has already made strides this summer, bringing on board four new players, including Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva on free transfers, and spending €60 million on Marc Cucurella as well as €20 million for Denzel Dumfries.
And the spending spree isn’t over. Reports indicate that the club is prepared to invest over €100 million on RB Leipzig‘s Yan Diomande, with additional negotiations anticipated for Manchester City‘s Rodri.
If both transactions materialize, this summer’s expenditures will greatly surpass the €182.2 million Real Madrid allocated last year for players like Franco Mastantuono and Trent Alexander-Arnold, some of whom have yet to find a stable role in the squad.
2010 Parallels Resurfacing
The similarities to the 2010 situation are striking.
Back then, Perez hired Mourinho and supported him with key signings like Angel Di Maria, Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, and Ricardo Carvalho, all aimed at dismantling Pep Guardiola’s dominant Barcelona.

Perez has reappointed Mourinho, paying €15 million to release him from Benfica, and is providing even greater resources than he did 16 years ago.
Barça Sticks to Its Strategy
In contrast, Barcelona is adhering to its financial constraints and heavily relying on La Masia.
This summer, their approach has been relatively modest, highlighted by the arrival of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for €70 million and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for €22 million.
