Liverpool is reportedly engaged in negotiations to acquire a forward valued at £100m, who is keen on a transfer to Anfield.
On Sunday, it was announced that Bradley Barcola will not extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. This news is less dramatic than it may initially appear.
Barcola’s existing contract runs until 2028, which means PSG is not in a dire situation. They could choose to retain him this summer and opt to sell in 2027 if they wish.
Nonetheless, PSG has been attempting to renegotiate his contract. The confirmation that he won’t sign an extension implies that Barcola’s market value could peak now, leading to a potential decline in the future.
Consequently, journalist Santi Aouna reported that Liverpool has initiated discussions with PSG regarding Barcola. Following the collapse of their pursuit of Yan Diomande, the player has emerged as a prime target for the Reds.

In fact, PSG’s willingness to hold discussions indicates that a deal could be feasible. Barcola, who the Daily Mail estimates is priced around £100m, is not seen as an automatic starter in Paris, thus providing the European champions with an opportunity to make a considerable profit without significantly impacting their starting squad.
That said, there is still a long road ahead. Ultimately, PSG is not inclined to sell unless absolutely necessary, and it will be up to Liverpool to convince them to part with Barcola.
Aouna has reported that Barcola is eager to join Liverpool and considers Anfield his preferred destination. This certainly gives the Reds an edge over competing clubs; however, we do not expect them to receive any bargains from PSG in this situation.
