Kicker and Sky Germany have reported that Crystal Palace has increased their bid for Augsburg centre-back Chrislain Matsima to €25 million. This follows an initial offer of €20 million, which was turned down by the German club.
Augsburg continues to hold out for a higher transfer fee for the 24-year-old defender, whose contract is set to run until 2030. Despite this, Crystal Palace appears resolute in their pursuit after successfully negotiating personal terms with Matsima.

Augsburg Holds Firm for High Profit on Matsima
Matsima has quickly become one of Augsburg’s key defenders, forming a reliable back line with Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Cedric Zesiger before maintaining his position after the arrival of Sandro Wagner.
The centre-back played the opening seven competitive matches of the 2025/26 season, netting one goal and providing two assists, which helped elevate his market value to €22 million.
Matsima’s progression was hindered by a serious thigh injury in January, raising concerns about his potential transfer to Palace. However, he made a comeback in April, participating in four Bundesliga matches before the season concluded.
Should Palace’s new €25 million offer go through, it would provide Augsburg with a significant profit on their initial investment. Nevertheless, the club remains in a strong bargaining position.
