Kelly burst into form for Arsenal in the latter half of the 2024-25 season, netting twice and supplying five assists, playing a key part as the club secured a second Women’s Champions League crown.
She was then pivotal in England’s successful European Championship defense that summer, sealing the title by converting the winning penalty against Spain in the shootout.
The most recent season, however, was more challenging. Injuries meant she started only four Women’s Super League matches, leaving her eager to kick on when the new campaign starts on Friday, 4 September.
“I set ambitious targets to make a big impact at Arsenal in my first full year, and I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t achieve them,” she says.
“I needed this summer to focus on my body—balancing gym work, on-pitch sessions, and proper downtime.”
“I’m in a really good place now. My main aim is to stay fit and fresh throughout the season and be ready whenever I’m called upon.”
And while a World Cup in Brazil next summer beckons—should England come through the play-offs this autumn—Kelly is keeping her attention on the immediate task.
“Goals and assists are massive for me, so I’ll make sure I’m right on it,” she adds. “I’ll think about the World Cup when it gets closer.”
