Rennes Plot Move to Bring…

Stade Rennais is reportedly keen on reuniting with Olympique de Marseille defender Nayef Aguerd (30), as reported by Foot Mercato.

The Morocco international had a successful two-year stint at Rennes from 2020 to 2022, accumulating 66 appearances before moving to West Ham United. He rejoined Ligue 1 last summer after a loan at Real Sociedad, with Marseille securing his services.

However, Aguerd’s future at the Vélodrome appears uncertain as Marseille seeks to balance its finances under the DNCG’s regulations.

Reports suggest that Aguerd has a clause in his Marseille contract allowing him to depart for €15 million in a single payment, valid until Friday, July 31. After that date, Marseille may request a higher transfer fee for the center-back, whose contract extends until 2030.

Rennes is particularly interested in bringing Aguerd back, although Foot Mercato notes that discussions remain complicated at this point. GFFN | George Boxall
