It was obvious then that Eddie Howe needed a breather. Part of why we’ve adored him is how deeply he cares about the team, the club, and the city.
Our poor run late in the season clearly took a toll on him. Maybe that would have been the better moment for an amicable parting?

His tenure was defined by hard work, pride, and unforgettable moments. Whatever comes next, he’s earned the full respect of Newcastle. A true local hero.
Roger: This is a complete calamity. For years, Eddie Howe has been the calm, tactical brain and the heartbeat of our success. Replacing him will be tough. Right now, Newcastle look like genuine relegation candidates.
Hazel: Absolutely heartbroken as a season-ticket holder. Eddie Howe worked near-miracles—transforming the team and bringing home a cup. Despite the late-season chaos, leadership changes, PSR constraints, and injuries, he held things together reasonably well.
I felt positive about the new signings because of his track record with player development. That excitement for the coming season has just vanished. Feels like the same old Newcastle.
Tom: There’s never a worse time to lose a manager than midway through pre-season. I fear this sets us back years. Eddie understood Newcastle and the city. Last season was rough, but he’d earned the benefit of the doubt.
