Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is putting in extra effort to “impress” new manager Andoni Iraola as he seeks a “second chance” at his childhood club.
The 23-year-old had limited playing time at Aston Villa last season, featuring in just nine games over 277 minutes while on loan.
Due to a clause in his loan agreement, Aston Villa would have been obligated to sign him for £35 million if he made a 10th appearance.
Now back at Liverpool, Elliott has participated in pre-season matches against Sunderland and Wrexham.
“Everyone knows how much I love this club,” Elliott shared after one match. “I’ve been a supporter since I was young, so it’s always special to put on the shirt and represent Liverpool.”
“Wearing the shirt is a childhood dream, and I always aim to give 100 per cent.”
“Last season, I was seeking a new challenge and wanted to step outside my comfort zone, which I believed would help my growth as a player.”

Elliott has been linked with potential moves this summer to clubs including Leeds, Sunderland, and RB Leipzig.
“I want to be proactive about my future, doing what’s best for me,” Elliott stated. “Whether that means staying and competing for my position here or considering a move elsewhere, I’m still weighing my options.”
