Charleroi had a disappointing conclusion to the 2025/2026 season following a remarkable prior campaign. After qualifying for European football, they stumbled during the playoffs, faced the departure of key players, and ultimately saw Rik De Mil move to Gent. For Charleroi to achieve significant success this season, they’ll need him to repeat or exceed his goal tally, especially given the team’s struggles for goals outside of their French forward. This becomes even more critical if they lose Parfait Guiagon.
Young Player to Watch: Severin Nioule
Charleroi has historically boasted strong wingers, and during their peak seasons, these players have played vital roles. Could Nioule be the next standout? The 21-year-old Ivorian, who joins Charleroi from the Swedish leagues, can operate on either wing. He previously played for Hacken in 2024 and 2025, amassing over 40 appearances, scoring six goals and providing one assist. This past season, he played for Varberg BoIS in the second tier, where he had four goals in just 12 games, indicating that Charleroi is optimistic about his potential.
