Why is Gasperini Feeling Frustrated at Roma?
Gasperini was scheduled to speak to Sky from Roma’s training camp in Wales on Thursday evening. A journalist had arrived in the UK a day early, only to receive a ‘polite apology’ from Gasperini for his absence.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Gasperini’s official reason for canceling the interview was a scheduling conflict, although the abrupt nature of the cancellation was surprising given that their meeting had been on the agenda for several days.
Instead, Gasperini has been engaged in several discussions with Roma’s management regarding the current state of the transfer market.
He has expressed a desire for Roma to sign approximately four new players before the summer transfer window closes, explicitly stating his need for a new winger to finalize his attacking line-up—an issue he has highlighted since the last summer transfer window.

Despite Gasperini’s clear intentions, Roma has struggled to secure any of their top three attacking targets, which according to La Gazzetta dello Sport include Mason Greenwood, Crysencio Summerville, and Antonio Nusa. Consequently, Gasperini’s frustration has become more apparent.
Additionally, there are indications that Roma may need to offload a current first-team player to generate the necessary funds for new acquisitions.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini has recently experienced tensions with Roma’s sporting director Tony D’Amico. However, their lengthy relationship dates back to their time at Atalanta, which may help sustain their collaboration despite current challenges. D’Amico was only appointed as Roma’s sporting director in mid-June.
