Italian club Como has secured the signing of defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a deal exceeding £30 million.
The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Como, a team managed by Cesc Fabregas, who achieved Champions League qualification by finishing fourth in Serie A last season.
As part of the transfer, Chelsea will receive an initial fee of £25.7 million, with the potential for an additional £5.1 million in performance-related bonuses after extended negotiations.
The centre-back, who has earned two caps for the senior England team and was a late addition to their World Cup squad, departs the club he joined as a child after nearly two decades.
Fabregas expressed enthusiasm about Chalobah’s arrival, stating, “Trevoh is a significant signing for us and embodies the ambition we have at this club. He is a leader who can elevate the team’s performance, and I’m delighted he has chosen Como.”

The England international made 151 appearances for Chelsea, winning five trophies, including the FA Cup in 2018 and the Conference League in 2025. He also had loan spells with Ipswich, Huddersfield, Lorient, and Crystal Palace.
