Genoa manager Daniele De Rossi shares the sentiment of Gian Piero Gasperini, asserting that keeping the transfer window open after the season has commenced is ‘an abomination.’
Gasperini expressed his frustration following a 3-0 friendly loss to Brighton and Hove Albion, highlighting that it poses a challenge for all clubs to be incomplete when the season kicks off.
He advocates for delaying games until coaches and players have full clarity on their squads for the upcoming months.

The former Roma player echoed Gasperini’s concerns saying, “The transfer deadline extending beyond the second Serie A match is just idiotic and a complete bureaucratic nightmare.”

De Rossi questioned, “Every year, coaches raise this issue, yet no one takes action. This problem extends beyond Italy; it’s harmful to everyone involved in the sport.”
“It’s a foolish and unjust situation that persists,” he added.

Genoa has had a challenging summer with pre-season matches, recently suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to Deportivo La Coruna in the Trofeo Spagnolo.

New recruit Mario Mitaj was at fault for conceding the decisive goal after losing possession, while Brooke Norton-Cuffy‘s absence from the fixture is also related to transfer market issues.
“Let’s say it’s a matter of the market, so we rested him, even though he was fit to play today,” De Rossi commented.
