Lewis-Skelly has reiterated he wants to remain at Arsenal and is concentrating on earning a regular place in the first team.
His spot is under pressure following the £75m arrival of midfielder Guimaraes from Newcastle United, but the busy schedule could still offer him the minutes he’s seeking.
Arsenal, however, are aiming to move players on before the window closes. Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli could be sold for the right price, while Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson are not in Mikel Arteta’s plans.
After spending heavily last summer—eight signings totaling £250m—the club has already laid out more than £100m this window and continues to target further additions. They have sold Christian Norgaard to Everton for £7m and Leandro Trossard to Besiktas for around £15m, and know they must stay adaptable as the deadline approaches.
As a homegrown player, any fee for Lewis-Skelly would count as pure profit in the accounts, something he playfully acknowledged by captioning “pure profit” on a photo of himself with the Premier League trophy during the title celebrations at Selhurst Park on the final day of last season.
That calculation changes under the new Squad Cost Ratio rules, which spread transfer income evenly over three seasons, limiting any immediate accounting boost from academy sales.
A move for Lewis-Skelly does not seem imminent, but his long-term future at Arsenal is still not guaranteed.
