Defender Stephen Welsh is eager to make an impact for Swansea City in the Championship following the injury setback of Cameron Burgess.
The Swans will kick off their league season with an away match against Stoke on Saturday at 15:00 BST.

Welsh is looking to make his club debut after remaining an unused substitute during last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Birmingham in the Carabao Cup.
With all five allowable substitutions made by manager Vitor Matos, Burgess suffered an injury from landing awkwardly, and a subsequent scan revealed he had ruptured his right Achilles.
This unfortunate incident has created an opportunity for Welsh to step in alongside Ben Cabango, and he is determined to seize this chance.
“When I signed, I was prepared to come in and play,” the former Celtic defender stated. “I bring with me a winning mentality from my background, where it’s all about succeeding and delivering on the pitch. This is a fantastic opportunity to start strong.”

“I want to participate in as many matches as possible, fully aware of the demanding nature of the Championship schedule with games coming thick and fast.”
Welsh spent the previous season on loan at Motherwell and opted to mutually terminate the final year of his contract with Celtic over the summer.
It didn’t take long for him to find a new club.
“Swansea reached out within a few hours,” said the 26-year-old. “Their swift response was a major reason for my decision to come here.”
