Yael Trepy, a forward for Cagliari, is currently in intensive care at a hospital, according to the Italian club’s announcement on Monday, though they did not provide specific details about his condition.
As reported by the newspaper L’Unione Sarda, Trepy was involved in an incident at a swimming pool in northern Sardinia.
The 20-year-old athlete is being treated at the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, as confirmed by Cagliari.
“Everyone at Cagliari Calcio is keeping Yael and his family in their thoughts,” the Serie A team stated in their announcement. “The club requests that their privacy be respected during this time and will provide updates as they become available.”
Trepy, who scored once in his eight Serie A appearances last season, participated in a 1-0 victory over Arezzo in the Coppa Italia on Friday.
