Bridging the Forest Gap:…

Oliver Glasner applauds wearing a blue tracksuit top

Oliver Glasner’s appointment has raised hopes for a fresh start at Nottingham Forest.

So far, things have been relatively quiet, with Glasner betting on the benefits of patience.

The club’s significant signings, Xaver Schlager and Ousmane Diomande, contribute much-needed quality and depth. Schlager, having previously worked under Glasner at Wolfsburg, is a familiar and trusted choice for the head coach.

Goalkeeper Steven Benda has joined as the third choice, providing additional cover. However, with no standout signing to step in for Elliot Anderson, some fans worry Forest may be falling short this transfer window.

Nonetheless, Forest is known for prioritizing quality over quantity, and Glasner mentioned on Sunday that two or three more deals are in the works.

Glasner also rejected concerns about midfield depth, highlighting options like James McAtee and Morgan Gibbs-White as capable of stepping back into that role.

The high costs in the market, combined with the World Cup impacting deals and Forest’s desire for precision, have naturally slowed down transfer activity. Additionally, other clubs are aware that Forest has funds available.

No team would be unaffected by the absence of England’s Anderson, who excelled at Forest after moving from Newcastle two years ago. Although there are still areas needing attention, there is no need for panic at this stage.

What are your thoughts on Forest’s summer transfers so far? What do you anticipate will happen at the club before the transfer window closes?
