Real Madrid Defender Faces…

Raul Asencio has just overcome one injury, but now he faces the return of another issue that plagued him last season, jeopardizing the start of his upcoming campaign.

According to MARCA, the Real Madrid center-back has healed from the quadriceps injury that sidelined him earlier this season, but a recurring shin issue from last year has reemerged.

Asencio, whose future at Real Madrid remains in question, is now receiving treatment at Valdebebas, making one last effort to avoid surgery.

The goal is to alleviate pressure in the affected area and facilitate proper healing. However, the margin for error is slim.

Should the treatment not yield the anticipated results, the defender may require surgery, which could sideline him for six to eight weeks.

The injury Asencio refused to let define him

The shin issue initially became a significant concern in the final months of last season, as Real Madrid grappled with a shortage of available center-backs.

Asencio could have taken a break to focus solely on his recovery but chose to press on.

The defender had become a vital asset during a challenging period for the team, unwilling to step back when they needed depth in defence.

Regrettably, the injury did not heal as well as anticipated. Asencio continued to compete as the medical staff sought solutions to keep him off the operating table.

He underwent a minimally invasive procedure aimed at addressing the area of the tibia, where scar tissue and a poorly healed callus had formed.

There were concerns that the condition could weaken the bone and transform an existing fissure into a more severe issue.

The treatment provided Asencio with more time. He was able to contribute to Real Madrid when they needed him most, but that decision is now coming to a head.

The recent setback occurred just as Asencio was finally recovering from his quadriceps injury.

However, rather than confronting a completely new injury, the defender is battling the same shin issue that hindered him last season.

He has initiated a new treatment course at Valdebebas, with several sessions already taking place.

The current focus is to alleviate pressure in the affected area and facilitate healing without resorting to more radical measures.

Consequently, surgery remains an option rather than an immediate necessity, yet if this latest treatment does not succeed, it may become unavoidable.

Should he require surgery, Asencio would face an expected recovery period of six to eight weeks, potentially sidelining him for nearly two months.
