Swansea City have completed the loan signing of Sunderland defender Jenson Seelt for the rest of the season. The 23-year-old Dutch centre-back has made 21 appearances for the Black Cats since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in 2023 and spent the first half of last season on loan at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
His arrival comes as Swansea receive encouraging news on Ben Cabango, whose heel injury is not thought to be serious. The club captain, who went off during the draw with Sheffield United last weekend, could still be available for Vitor Matos’ trip to Derby County on Saturday.
Seelt will compete with Cabango, Stephen Welsh and Filip Lissah for central defensive roles, though Swansea may still seek another centre-back before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline. They are without Cameron Burgess—an ever-present in the 2025-26 Championship—after an Achilles injury likely rules him out until next season. Lissah is also considered a right-back option alongside Josh Key.
