It seems Liverpool won’t part ways with one of their stars, as confirmed by his father.
There’s a prevailing narrative that Cody Gakpo is on the way to Manchester City. The speculation suggests the Reds could cash in significantly on the Dutch forward, although the move creates quite a stir.

After all, transferring a key player to a rival vying for the title seems reckless. Just a few seasons ago, it’s hard to imagine Liverpool even entertaining such an idea—so what has changed?
While the financial boost is undoubtedly appealing, there are concerns about how effectively the club will reinvest that money, especially given the unusual list of right-winger targets they are currently considering.
However, we should perhaps count ourselves lucky that it’s not a double loss. Recent reports indicated that City wasn’t just pursuing Gakpo but also had their sights set on Alexis Mac Allister.
Mac Allister’s situation has been under scrutiny all year, as he’s the only prominent midfielder who hasn’t signed a new contract, with the exception of Curtis Jones, who was sold to Inter.

Initially, City’s interest depended on their pursuit of Enzo Fernandez, with Mac Allister seen as a backup option. However, it now looks like Liverpool will be keeping their Argentine midfielder.
WinWinAllSports quoted Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, emphasizing that his son intends to remain at Liverpool this summer.
“Alexis is not thinking about leaving Liverpool,” Carlos stated. “He wants to stay at the club.”
Yet, he also acknowledged that Mac Allister’s future isn’t entirely settled. Although the contract runs until 2028, discussions regarding its renewal have yet to begin.
“Liverpool have not started talks to renew Alexis’ contract, but the player’s desire is to continue at the club,” he explained.
This matter needs to be resolved promptly.
