Stoke City is nearing the completion of a deal to acquire Houston Dynamo and US international midfielder Jack McGlynn for a total fee of up to $5.5 million, inclusive of add-ons, as reported by sources to ESPN.
Additionally, Houston will maintain a sell-on percentage for any future transfer of McGlynn. According to one insider, McGlynn is currently in England to complete a medical examination.
Should McGlynn pass the medical, he will officially sign with Stoke.
The Athletic was the first to report on McGlynn’s imminent transfer.
At 23 years old, McGlynn has spent part of the last two seasons with the Dynamo, contributing nine goals and 15 assists in 51 matches across all competitions. His progress was somewhat hindered by a broken foot sustained in September 2025.
Originating from Middle Village, N.Y., McGlynn progressed through the academy of New York-based youth club BW Gottschee before joining the Philadelphia Union‘s academy in 2019. He is recognized for his exceptional vision and ability to shoot from distance.
McGlynn made his debut for the first team in April 2021 against Deportivo Saprissa during the Concacaf Champions League.
He made his MLS debut just ten days later against Inter Miami. He was acquired by the Dynamo prior to the commencement of the 2025 MLS regular season.
On the international stage, McGlynn has represented the USMNT 13 times and has scored two goals. He was also part of the squad that reached the final in the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.
