Michele Kang hails London…

London City Lionesses owner Michele Kang says the club’s new front-of-shirt partnership with Nike is the biggest in women’s football — and larger than some Premier League deals.

Until now, the largest known agreement for a women’s team was believed to be tied to the new Atlanta franchise joining the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in 2028.

Atlanta’s shirt sponsorship is reportedly around $4m (£2.96m), similar to what newly promoted Premier League clubs secure and above most Championship sides.

Kang told BBC Sport the Lionesses’ contract is the largest women-only front-of-shirt deal and surpasses the Atlanta figure.

She added that it also exceeds some men’s Premier League front-of-shirt agreements, calling it a landmark moment because of its scale.

The announcement follows a headline-making summer for London City, who have signed two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas, Spain defender Mapi Leon from Barcelona, former England goalkeeper Mary Earps and Lyon winger Kadidiatou Diani.
