Barcelona Faces Mixed…

Barcelona experienced a challenging international break as several players faced injury setbacks. Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, and Ferran Torres all withdrew from the Spain squad, and their conditions have now been clarified.

Dani Olmo out until November

The club is optimistic about Lamine Yamal’s availability for the upcoming match against Girona this weekend, but Olmo will not be in the lineup. According to an official medical report, the Catalan side confirmed that the midfielder has sustained an injury to the soleus muscle in his left leg, with no damage to the surrounding connective tissue. As reported by MD, he is expected to be sidelined for 2-3 weeks, rendering him unavailable for El Clasico in 12 days.

Olmo entered the international break with some muscle discomfort; however, the medical staff of the Spanish national team monitored his condition during the training camp rather than sending him back to Barcelona. While he showed some improvement, it was announced on Friday that he had suffered a minor relapse, which led to his withdrawal ahead of the matches against Georgia and Bulgaria.

Pleased with Ferran Torres’ update

Earlier in the week, it was confirmed that Ferran Torres had to pull out of the Spain squad due to his own physical issues. Barcelona has since reported that he is dealing with a hamstring overload in his left leg but no significant injury. Consequently, MD indicates he should be fit to play against Girona on Sunday, which is promising news for the Catalans.

While Olmo’s absence is unfortunate, it may not be as detrimental given his recent lack of form, coupled with Fermin Lopez’s return from his own injury. For Ferran, Hansi Flick will be relieved to have him available, although he might still opt to rest him for the Girona match in preparation for El Clasico the following weekend.
