Luciano Spalletti, the new head coach of Juventus, spoke to the press ahead of the Bianconeri’s upcoming match against Sporting in the Champions League’s fourth matchday. He offered insights into the fixture and what his tenure in Turin may entail.

“Tomorrow’s match will be challenging because Sporting know how to play the game,” the 66-year-old stated. “Since Borges took charge, they’ve demonstrated their capabilities on the field, even if their style can be tough to decipher.”

Shifting the discussion to Juventus’ Serie A ambitions, Spalletti commented on key players Kenan Yildiz and Dusan Vlahovic. Regarding Yildiz’s role, he remarked, “I asked him where he feels most at ease, and he mentioned he enjoys the centre-left position; he’s effective as a second striker or on the wing.”

“When I think of the top players I’ve coached, he possesses qualities reminiscent of Kvara and Di Natale, both of whom are exceptionally talented. Kenan has a knack for showcasing spectacular plays on social media.”

While Yildiz’s creativity is valuable, Spalletti also highlighted the importance of the player responsible for converting those opportunities. So far, discussions with Vlahovic have been encouraging. “I’ve spoken to Dusan, and he is eager to stay; he is not preoccupied with his contract and is focused solely on playing.”

In addition to positive individual interactions, it appears the new manager is making a broader impact on the team.

“I emphasized that we must strive for the Scudetto, which differs from merely aiming to win it. As long as we have a mathematical chance, we should set our sights high, even in the Champions League.”

“The victory in Cremona was entirely attributed to the players; I didn’t have a say in it. I appreciate how the team responds when I speak—they show determination and eagerness: they form a strong group, both in terms of football and character. As for new regulations? Just applying common sense; Juventus has always embodied that.”
