Vitor Roque’s agent, Andre Cury, has provided further details regarding the young striker’s unexpected departure from Barcelona.
Just yesterday, Cury announced that several Premier League clubs were preparing offers around €50 million for the promising forward, a move that would also benefit Barcelona.
Now, he has elaborated on the reasons behind their choice to leave the Catalan club for Palmeiras after a previous arrangement fell through.
What transpired?
Cury expressed surprise at Barcelona’s decision to loan Roque to Real Betis, implying it wasn’t the ideal setting for the Brazilian’s growth.
“I found it unusual because Betis doesn’t have substantial financial resources. It concerned me. I perceived that Vitor needed more support, and Palmeiras offers all the advantages for that,” he stated.
According to Cury, the move to Palmeiras was more logical from both a sporting and personal standpoint.

“The opportunity to live near the training center, close to the stadium, and close to us will provide him with the strength to regain his form,” he added.
The agent also voiced his concerns about Roque’s lack of playing time at Betis.
He believed that Betis’ investment in Cucho Hernandez indicated limited chances for Roque to establish himself as a key player. Cury elaborated,
“Vitor took time to score goals at Palmeiras. Had he been loaned to Betis, they would likely have removed him from the game quickly.”
“When a club invests significantly in a player, their approach changes,” the agent explained.
