Bayern Munich’s Luis Diaz to Miss Arsenal Clash Following Red Card
Arsenal fans have reason to be cautious ahead of Bayern Munich’s visit later this month. The German club tops the Champions League table and remains undefeated across all competitions this season.
Bayern showcased their remarkable form by establishing a 2-0 lead against the reigning Champions League winners, PSG, during their matchup on Tuesday. Luis Diaz made a significant impact by scoring both goals within the first 32 minutes.
However, concerns regarding Diaz’s potential to add to his tally at the Emirates have been alleviated after he received a red card just before halftime.
After losing possession to Achraf Hakimi, Diaz pursued him and committed a two-footed challenge, landing on Hakimi’s ankle. The referee originally issued a yellow card, but a subsequent VAR review escalated it to a red. Hakimi left the field in tears, raising concerns about a serious injury.
As a result, Diaz will be suspended for Bayern’s match against Arsenal on November 26, as red card suspensions do not transfer between competitions, and this is their next European fixture. This news is significant considering Diaz has contributed to 15 goals in his 16 appearances for Bayern.
Despite being reduced to ten players, Bayern maintained their lead to secure a victory, albeit after a late goal from Joao Neves threatened an equalizer.
This match is especially pivotal for Arsenal, as PSG was one of the few teams with a perfect record in the Champions League. If Arsenal can overcome Bayern, they will widen the gap between the two teams.
Even without Diaz, Bayern boast numerous threats, including notable players like Harry Kane and Serge Gnabry. While they will be missing one key player at the Emirates, they still represent a formidable challenge.
