The Court of Arbitration for Sport has scheduled a hearing to consider Senegal’s appeal against being stripped of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.
Morocco, the tournament hosts, were declared champions after the Confederation of African Football overturned January’s final, which Senegal had won 1-0.
Senegal’s players briefly left the pitch when Morocco were awarded a stoppage-time penalty with the game at 0-0.
Following an interruption of about 17 minutes, play resumed. Brahim Diaz’s penalty was saved, and Pape Gueye later scored in extra time to secure Senegal’s victory.
Senegal filed their appeal with CAS on 25 March, asking the body to annul CAF’s ruling and restore them as champions.
CAF had judged that Senegal forfeited the final and awarded Morocco a 3-0 win.
Because CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation declined to fast-track the case, the hearing will take place on 8 October.
CAS said this schedule follows its standard timeline.
With no request from CAF or the FRMF for a public session, the hearing will be held behind closed doors at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
CAS has not indicated when a final decision will be issued, only that it will not be announced on the day of the hearing.
