Newcastle earned a well-deserved 2-1 victory over Tottenham, but former Magpies defender John Anderson expressed concerns that the team didn’t secure a more comfortable win.
Malick Thiaw scored first for Newcastle, with Archie Gray leveling the match before Jacob Ramsey clinched the winner.

“They made it harder than it needed to be,” Anderson remarked while summarizing for BBC Radio Newcastle at the conclusion of the match. “It should have been a more comfortable victory, especially against stronger sides, where you can’t afford such slip-ups. We were dominant.”
“Spurs left themselves vulnerable and stretched, yet we failed to capitalize and then conceded an unfortunate equalizer. That’s troubling, especially when we’d been in control for so long without allowing Spurs to create any chances, yet they managed to score almost out of the blue.”
“We had to regroup and chase the game again, and there will be tougher challenges ahead. Nevertheless, it was an important and well-earned victory.”

Reflecting on how manager Eddie Howe celebrated with the away fans post-match, Anderson added, “You could see how much this win meant to Eddie Howe. He understands the significance of this result. Had we lost, the pressure would have intensified significantly. It’s a massive win for us.”
