Marc-André ter Stegen’s loan transfer to Ajax is now just waiting for official confirmation.
The German goalkeeper, who departed from FC Barcelona’s training camp at St. George’s Park on Friday, is set to join the Dutch club on a season-long loan, with Ajax agreeing to cover 15% of his salary.

This move will reunite Ter Stegen with head coach Michel Sanchez, who briefly worked with him at Girona during the second half of last season.
Having taken the helm at Ajax this summer, Michel has already publicly addressed the anticipated arrival of the goalkeeper.
“With both Ter Stegen and Julian Brandt in the team, Ajax will be much stronger,” he stated, as reported by SPORT.
According to sources, Ter Stegen successfully completed his medical examination in Amsterdam on Saturday. While neither Ajax nor Barcelona has officially confirmed the deal yet, Michel has indicated that everything is effectively finalized.

“They are two excellent players who will enhance our squad. Of course, they still need to train with us, but I’m really pleased.”
Second consecutive loan deal
The German international remains contracted to Barcelona until 2028 but will spend another season away from the club.
According to the arrangement, Ajax will cover 15% of his wages, leaving Barcelona responsible for the remaining salary, estimated at approximately €17 million per year.
Although this does not significantly alleviate Barcelona’s salary cap issues, the Catalan club will still welcome his departure.

This will mark Ter Stegen’s second consecutive loan spell, following his temporary stint at Girona in January.
His time at Montilivi was largely hindered by a left hamstring injury, limiting him to just two appearances. Nevertheless, he impressed Michel enough to become one of the coach’s priority signings after taking over at Ajax.
Michel has expressed confidence in the German goalkeeper, who will be looking to stay injury-free and help Ajax reclaim their position at the top of Dutch football.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will be monitoring his progress closely, hoping for a successful season that could attract potential buyers for a permanent transfer next summer.
