Alvarez Seeks Exit from…

Julian Alvarez, the Argentine striker, has expressed his desire to depart from Atletico Madrid in pursuit of his dreams.

The 26-year-old forward has reportedly attracted interest from Barcelona and Paris St-Germain. In June, Atletico turned down a €150 million (£130 million) bid from rivals Real Madrid for the player, as confirmed in a report.

Currently participating in the World Cup with Argentina, Alvarez has come off the bench in the team’s first two matches following recovery from an ankle injury.

“I’ve spoken with the necessary people at [Atletico], and I believe that a transfer is in everyone’s best interest. I want to achieve my dream,” Alvarez stated after Argentina’s victory against Austria.

“It may not be the right time to discuss this, but I cannot conceal it. I aim to be an honest person.”

Alvarez moved to Atletico from Manchester City for £81.5 million in the summer of 2024, accumulating 49 goals and 17 assists in 106 appearances under Diego Simeone.

Having netted 17 goals in his debut season in La Liga, the former River Plate player managed only eight in the 2025-26 season.

Nonetheless, he shone in the Champions League, scoring 10 goals to aid Atletico in reaching the semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Arsenal.
