Amad Diallos Strike…

On Sunday, the final matchday of the Africa Cup of Nations at the Stade de Marrakech saw Ivory Coast and Cameroon play to a 1-1 draw.

The opening phase of the game was uneventful, with neither team able to capitalize until Sekou Kone squandered a chance for Ivory Coast.

Amad Diallo successfully regained possession and passed to Franck Kessie, who then set up Kone, but his attempt was deflected out for a corner.

Before halftime, Vakoun Bayo missed another opportunity for the defending champions, directing his shot wide from Diallo’s precise cross.

The second half kicked off with high intensity, featuring chances for both teams.

Kessie believed he had put Ivory Coast ahead with an impressive strike, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside. At the other end, Danny Namaso struck the woodwork.

Moments later, Diallo managed to break the deadlock for Ivory Coast, curling the ball into the net for his second goal of the tournament.

However, Ivory Coast’s lead was short-lived, as Ghislain Konan accidentally redirected Junior Tchamadeu’s shot into his own net, leveling the score for Cameroon just five minutes later.

Kessie nearly reclaimed the lead for Ivory Coast, soaring to meet Guela Doue’s cross, but was thwarted by goalkeeper Devis Epassy.

Ivory Coast continued to apply pressure on the Indomitable Lions, but both Kessie and Bayo missed further chances to score.

Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo also struggled, sending two shots wide of Fofana’s goal and squandering another prime opportunity in stoppage time.

The draw leaves both teams tied with four points at the top of Group F as they head into the final matchday.
