Burnley is facing imminent relegation – the only question is when it will happen – following a disappointing second-half performance.

Over the last two Premier League seasons, the Clarets have suffered 45 losses in 71 matches, putting them on the brink of being relegated again just after earning promotion.

Despite taking the lead with a goal from Zian Flemming right before half-time, they failed to leverage the anxiety of the home crowd against Nottingham Forest, who were booed off at half-time.

Forest had only managed three goals in their last eight and a half home league games, yet they scored four against the Clarets within a single 45-minute half.

Scott Parker’s team faltered, even when Forest was not performing at their peak, leaving little hope for recovery. Relegation could be confirmed as early as Wednesday.

The pressing concern for the Clarets now is what strategy they will adopt if they are relegated again but manage a swift return from the Championship. How will they secure a long-term foothold in the Premier League?

Not too long ago, they enjoyed six consecutive seasons in the top flight, even qualifying for Europe under Sean Dyche.
