Anderlecht Captain Poised…

Anderlecht Captain Poised…

According to HLN, Anderlecht captain Colin Coosemans is on the verge of signing a new contract with the club. The 33-year-old goalkeeper is set to become a free agent next summer. While negotiations had been slower than expected, it seems both parties are now close to finalizing an agreement for an extended contract.

Coosemans joined Anderlecht in 2021 but spent much of his early tenure as a backup. However, following Kasper Schmeichel’s departure to Celtic, Coosemans was given the opportunity to step into the starting role. He excelled during the 2024/2025 season, making 54 appearances and establishing himself as one of the team’s standout players. This season, he has reclaimed his position as the starting goalkeeper, featuring in 41 games so far. His journey at Anderlecht has been remarkable, leading to his promotion to club captain.

Currently, Anderlecht is vying for a European spot, but they unfortunately lost their opening playoff match against title contenders Club Brugge.
