Arsenal are on the verge of completing their long-running pursuit of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes.
BBC Sport reported on 30 July that a move to the Premier League champions was expected after a breakthrough in negotiations.
A full agreement is now close, with Guimaraes awaiting permission to leave Newcastle’s training base in La Manga, Spain, to finalize the paperwork at the Emirates.
Arsenal are preparing the Brazil midfielder’s medical this week. The fee hasn’t been confirmed, but sources suggest it could reach £80m.
Guimaraes, who joined Newcastle from Lyon in 2022, has made his desire to join Arsenal clear and is Mikel Arteta’s top target for central midfield.
The clubs have been ironing out the final details this week, and the final agreement is now considered a formality.
