According to sources cited by ESPN’s Bruno Andrade, Bruno Guimarães is nearing the completion of his transfer from Newcastle United to Arsenal.
The two Premier League clubs have reached an agreement on a deal that will secure the Brazilian midfielder’s move to the Emirates for a guaranteed fee of £75 million ($101 million).
Guimarães arrived at Newcastle’s training camp in Spain this week after an extended break following the World Cup. He is scheduled to undergo a medical examination with Arsenal before officially finalizing his transfer.
The 28-year-old midfielder will be the third significant departure from St James’ Park this summer, joining Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.
Last week, manager Eddie Howe announced his decision to leave the club by mutual consent after five years of service.
As previously reported by ESPN, Arsenal grew increasingly confident of securing Guimarães following Howe’s exit.
Since arriving from Lyon, Guimarães has played 153 Premier League matches and has even served as Newcastle’s captain.

This summer, Guimarães also represented Brazil at the World Cup, where they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Norway.
Arsenal has already secured the signings of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34 million ($45 million), Illan Meslier on a free transfer from Leeds United, and Piero Hincapié, whose loan from Bayer Leverkusen has been made permanent this summer. Meanwhile, Jakub Kiwior has transferred to Porto, and Leandro Trossard has moved to Besiktas.
Newcastle has strengthened their squad by signing Ewen Jaouen from Stade de Reims, Bazoumana Touré from Hoffenheim, Sean Steur from Ajax, Aladji Bamba from Monaco, and Lukáš Horníček from SC Braga.
