Arsenal Targeting…

In a recent print edition, Mundo Deportivo (8 October, Page 5) reported that Arsenal is interested in acquiring Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado. The Gunners are planning to pursue the Spanish talent’s services in the upcoming year.

Casado’s Stellar Performances in Spain

Last season, Casado played a vital role as a squad member for Barcelona, delivering a string of impressive performances in midfield. The 22-year-old made 36 appearances for the Catalan club, contributing one goal and providing six assists across all competitions.

His contributions in the midfield were noteworthy as he recorded 44 tackles, 20 blocks, 22 interceptions, and 22 clearances in La Liga. Additionally, he demonstrated precision in ball distribution, achieving an impressive 89.3% pass completion rate at the top level (statistics via fbref.com).

Casado’s current contract with Barcelona extends until the summer of 2028, making it unlikely that Arsenal will be able to acquire him for a bargain price next year.

Is Casado a Worthy Target for Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta?

Casado is known for his tough tackling and ability to time challenges effectively, making him a valuable asset in regaining possession for his team. He often plays aggressively when the opposition is attacking.

Additionally, the Spanish talent possesses the vision to create scoring opportunities and is a skilled dribbler. He can contribute goals from midfield, though it remains to be seen how well he would adjust to the physical demands and intensity of the Premier League if Arsenal secures his signature in 2026.

His addition would significantly enhance Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield options. Casado has the potential to compete for regular first-team positions at the North London club.

At just 22 years old, the future is promising for Casado, provided he continues to develop his skills. Hence, Arteta should consider making a move for him in the coming year.
