Just under three weeks ago, Arsenal was aiming for all four trophies available this season. However, following their defeat in the League Cup final and a surprising exit from the FA Cup in the quarter-finals against Southampton, the squad has shifted focus to just two competitions.

The situation could have grown dire for Mikel Arteta’s team had they faced defeat in their Champions League match against Sporting CP on Tuesday. Fortunately, a late goal from Kai Havertz secured a win, providing some momentum as they head into the second leg of the quarter-final.

Reflecting on the recent defeats and the subsequent victory, Arteta stated he has gained insights into the character and resolve of his players and coaching staff during this period.

“In challenging times, I believe the best approach is to listen and observe rather than speak excessively,” Arteta remarked. “It’s essential to see how individuals respond—how they communicate, their demeanor, and whether they place blame externally or reflect inwardly.

“By observing, you can understand the dynamics and personalities surrounding you. I am immensely proud to be part of a club where everyone asks, ‘What can I do to assist?’”

“When you have such individuals, I don’t know if it will take a week or two, but inevitably, something positive will emerge because we truly deserve it.”

Arsenal’s path to trophies this season is uncertain. Even if they succeed against Sporting CP in the upcoming quarter-final second leg, they are likely to face tough opponents like FC Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals, followed by another challenging team if they reach the final.

Meanwhile, Arsenal holds a favorable position in the Premier League, leading Manchester City by nine points. However, Manchester City has a chance to narrow the gap with a game in hand and a home matchup against Arsenal, potentially reducing the lead to just three points—if they secure victories in both matches.

Thus, Arsenal must remain vigilant and avoid any further missteps as they approach the end of the season.
