As Osimhen Nets to Down…

Victor Osimhen made a notable return to Turin, scoring a goal that helped Galatasaray knock Juventus out of the Champions League. However, the idea of the Nigerian striker donning a Juventus jersey in the future is more complex than the supportive remarks exchanged before the match might indicate.

When Napoli sold Osimhen to Galatasaray in the summer of 2025 for €75 million, they included a clause in the contract aimed at blocking any return to Italian football, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Napoli’s Clause Complicates Juventus’ Pursuit of Osimhen

This clause lasts for 24 months, preventing Osimhen’s transfer to any Serie A club until at least September 1, 2027. It also imposes a penalty fee of €70 million in the first year, dropping to €50 million in the second year.

For any Italian club interested in signing him, they would need to either pay this penalty themselves or negotiate with Napoli to waive it, while Galatasaray must also recover their investment.

Furthermore, De Laurentiis’ club is entitled to a ten percent sell-on fee, which adds another layer of complexity to any potential negotiation.

Even beyond the clause, the financial landscape is formidable.

Osimhen currently receives a base salary of €15 million net per year, which can rise to €21 million with bonuses—a figure that no Serie A club can match, especially with Italy’s Decreto Crescita tax benefit no longer applicable.

Interestingly, Osimhen has not completely dispelled Juventus fans’ hopes. He has previously stated that joining the club “would be a privilege,” praised Spalletti, and notably refrained from celebrating his goal at the Allianz Stadium out of respect for his former manager.
