Cian Ashford was praised by head coach Brian Barry-Murphy for his pivotal role in Cardiff City’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Doncaster Rovers, as the team continues to lead League One.
The 20-year-old forward not only scored Cardiff’s second goal but also fired the shot that set up Joel Bagan’s dramatic winner in the ninth minute of stoppage time on Saturday.

Ashford’s impressive performance included a spectacular first-half goal, which he netted after an impressive 30-yard dash past several defenders.
“When we seemed to lose our composure and appeared frantic at times, Cian Ashford displayed the kind of composure we’re looking for and delivered the quality we needed,” Barry-Murphy stated.
“He really carried us at moments when we needed that high level of quality, especially when the game wasn’t going perfectly.”
Barry-Murphy expressed his satisfaction with Ashford’s contribution, emphasizing the importance of all players stepping up: “I’m very pleased with him, and it’s vital that we don’t overly depend on a handful of players.”

With this victory, Cardiff celebrated their fifth consecutive win, maintaining a four-point lead at the top of League One.
“We aimed to play more effectively and exert better control over the game, but that didn’t quite materialize,” Barry-Murphy added. “The most gratifying aspect is that we managed to find a way to win and create enough scoring opportunities. I’m delighted for both the players and the supporters.”
