Aston Villa Interested in…

Aston Villa is gearing up for a major signing in the January transfer window. According to Dean Jones, the club is keen on acquiring Nathan De Cat, a highly regarded 17-year-old midfielder from Anderlecht.

The Villains have targeted the Belgian prospect as a potential long-term partner for Boubacar Kamara, as Unai Emery aims to fortify the midfield for the future, aligning with his strategic vision for the team.

Aston Villa Shows Interest in Nathan De Cat

De Cat has featured in 15 matches in the Jupiler Pro League this season and has also shone on the international stage with the Belgian U19 team. His playing style has drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s Rodri, showcasing impressive passing and composure in a deep-lying playmaker role. His regular appearances in the first team at just 17 years old highlight his readiness for senior football.

Despite Anderlecht’s stance that De Cat will remain with them until at least 2027, sources suggest that a bid in the region of £30 million (€35 million) could prompt them to enter negotiations. Aston Villa is reportedly preparing an initial offer of €22–25 million, potentially plus bonuses and a 10–15% sell-on fee.

Interest from rival clubs is on the rise as well. Tottenham Hotspur, under sporting director Johann Lange, is actively pursuing the player. Brighton has also made inquiries through intermediaries, while Bayern Munich has kept in touch but is unlikely to make an immediate offer unless Premier League teams show their hand.

Possible Paths Ahead

Two transfer scenarios are being considered: either a loan-back arrangement until the end of the season followed by a permanent transfer or a loan with a mandatory purchase clause. Villa favors the first option to facilitate De Cat’s continued development in Belgium.

Nathan De Cat appears to fit well into Villa’s long-term vision. While he may not have an instant impact, his talent and potential suggest that this investment could prove valuable if Emery is willing to grant him time to grow.
