Atletico demands €150m upfront
Even though Atletico has publicly stated their reluctance to sell Alvarez this summer, their stance seems to have softened slightly due to the player’s inclination for a new challenge.
It’s important to note that the striker has already indicated his desire to leave, which is increasing pressure on the club as the transfer market heats up.

Nonetheless, Atletico has no intention of easing the process for Barcelona. They will only consider offers of €150 million in cash without any options for staggered payments or alternative financial arrangements.
Furthermore, Barcelona has been informed that any proposals involving player swaps will not be entertained.
This means potential bargaining pieces like Ferran Torres, Marc Casado, or any other players that sporting director Deco may wish to include have already been dismissed.
Barcelona faces a challenging situation
Barcelona’s interest in Alvarez remains strong despite Atletico’s hefty price tag.

Meanwhile, Deco is keeping lines of communication open with the player’s representatives, and intermediaries are attempting to reduce tensions between the two clubs.

Additionally, Barcelona is prioritizing the completion of outgoing transfers before June 30 to improve their financial standing and create more flexibility within their salary structure.
Ensuring compliance with financial fair play regulations is crucial if they are to have a viable opportunity to acquire one of Europe’s most coveted forwards.

At present, Atletico’s demands result in a significant disparity between both clubs, making a deal seem unlikely in the near future.
However, Alvarez’s eagerness to join Barcelona keeps the possibility alive.
