Barcelona Aiming to Hijack…

Barcelona is prioritizing the search for a new centre-forward as they approach the next season.

The club is intent on enhancing their attacking strength, and their technical team is actively exploring various options, from top-tier talent to more budget-friendly alternatives.

Recently, SPORT revealed that Barcelona is seriously considering entering the competition for Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, a decision that could complicate other ongoing negotiations.

The team’s necessity for a striker has been apparent for months. Despite having quality attackers, there is a growing sentiment that a traditional number nine is needed to prepare for the eventual transition following Lewandowski’s departure.

This is why the recruitment team is evaluating the market for players who can make an immediate impact.

At the top of Barcelona’s shortlist features Julian Alvarez, a player highly valued at the club.

However, pursuing the Argentine would entail a significant financial commitment, prompting Barcelona to closely examine other options.

Serhou Guirassy joins the shortlist

Consequently, Guirassy has emerged as a viable candidate. The Borussia Dortmund forward has captured attention from clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia.

Al-Ittihad has also shown significant interest in acquiring Guirassy, viewing him as a crucial addition to their squad.

Nonetheless, there is growing unease within the Saudi club, as Barcelona’s interest may interfere with their ambitions.

From a performance standpoint, Guirassy has netted 18 goals across all competitions this season, totaling over 30 in the last two seasons in Germany.

Financially, the deal is quite attractive. With a valuation around €40 million, Guirassy is a more budget-friendly option in comparison to some of Barcelona’s primary targets.

Although he is under contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2028, the 30-year-old is reportedly open to a fresh challenge this summer.

While he is considering a move to Saudi Arabia, the prospect of joining Barcelona could significantly sway his decision, as a role at Camp Nou presents a much more appealing sporting opportunity, and he would be willing to wait for that chance.
