Barcelona-Bound? A La Liga…

According to a recent report from Sport, Levante forward Karl Etta Eyong has expressed a preference for a transfer to Barcelona. The Catalan club is anticipated to face competition from Real Madrid in their pursuit of the Cameroonian striker next year.

Eyong Shines in La Liga This Season

Eyong has had a remarkable start to the current La Liga season, showcasing his talents with several standout performances in the attacking third. The 22-year-old has netted six goals and provided three assists in 11 appearances for Levante across all competitions.

The young striker has excelled in his role, averaging 2.84 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga, with 50% of those attempts finding the target. However, he will need to enhance his ball distribution, as indicated by his pass success rate of 70.5% in the Spanish top flight (stats via fbref.com).

Eyong is currently under contract with Levante until the summer of 2029. Consequently, if Barcelona is serious about acquiring him next year, they will need to present an enticing offer.

Is Eyong a Viable Option for Barcelona’s Hansi Flick?

Eyong is a skilled dribbler with a keen eye for creating opportunities for teammates in the attacking zone. He possesses a powerful shot from distance and demonstrates a strong ability to score and assist goals.

The Cameroonian has already started to showcase his value in La Liga. However, it remains to be seen if he can sustain this form at a prestigious club like Barcelona.

Eyong could significantly bolster the firepower in Hansi Flick’s midfield, possessing the potential to vie for a regular starting position at Nou Camp in the coming years.

At just 22, Eyong has the capability to evolve into a world-class player in his position. Therefore, it makes sense for Barcelona to pursue a deal for him either this January or at the conclusion of the current season. Nevertheless, Flick will need to exercise patience to fully harness the potential of this talented youngster.
