Barcelona Defender Reveals…

Barcelona is currently facing one of the toughest phases of their season, and head coach Hansi Flick is acutely aware of it. On Thursday, he convened a meeting with his squad to address the issues arising from their recent consecutive losses to Atletico Madrid and Girona.

Eric Garcia, who participated in both matches, shared insights with Tot Costa (via MD) about the hour-long discussion between Flick and the Barcelona players.

“We aimed to address what went wrong (in the past week). The manner in which we conceded the first and second goals (against Girona) has amplified our concerns. The Copa semi-final was particularly significant, and we lost our advantage after taking the lead in Girona,” he stated.

“The meeting went well, and everyone left feeling positive. Since Flick arrived, we’ve been playing with a high defensive line. Though we’ve allowed around 23 or 24 goals in La Liga, which isn’t outrageous, the Champions League has seen us involved in several high-scoring matches. As our style becomes better known, it’s crucial for our forwards to support the defense. We’ve been experiencing excessive turnovers lately that are detrimental to us. In Girona, if those mistakes had only happened six or seven times instead of fifteen, it would have made a difference. We’re human, but we need to regain control of the ball for greater balance.”

Eric: Barcelona Can Turn Things Around in La Liga and Copa del Rey

Despite the unfavorable results over the past week, which have put Barcelona at a disadvantage in La Liga and the Copa del Rey, Eric remains optimistic that he and his teammates can recover.

“In La Liga, we’ve faced more challenging situations. After leaving the Bernabeu, we were five points behind, but the league is a long journey, and we control our destiny. As for the Copa, I believe that a comeback against Atletico is possible. If we have demonstrated anything, it’s that we can achieve any result. A quick goal could open up opportunities for us, even if they decide to play defensively.”
