Barcelona Forward Resolute…

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski shows no signs of deceleration as he nears the end of his contract with the club.

Now 37, the Polish striker has no intention of becoming a backup and is resolute in his ambition to fight for a starting position until his last day as a Barça player.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, uncertainties persist about his future. Lewandowski will celebrate his 38th birthday in August 2026, but his ambitious mindset remains intact.

After scoring in Poland’s recent match against Lithuania, Lewandowski spoke with TVP Sport (h/t SPORT), dismissing the notion that age should define his abilities.

“I feel that I still have a lot to give,” Lewandowski stated, emphasizing his belief in his capacity to perform at the highest levels.

Challenging Age and Criticism

The striker addressed ongoing critiques regarding his fitness and energy, which some attribute to his age.

“When people look for reasons to explain my performance, they often mention my age—claiming I can’t run, that I don’t want to run, or that I lack effort,” he acknowledged.

“That’s simply not true. One only needs to look at the distances I cover during matches to see that’s not accurate.”

Recognizing the importance of managing his playing time, the striker reflected on balancing his minutes this season.

“At my age, I understand that playing fewer minutes might be beneficial over the season,” he noted.

Continuing to Contribute Daily

Despite being the oldest member of the Barcelona squad, Lewandowski insists he remains in peak physical shape and continues to excel in training.

“I don’t want to portray myself as a victim of age, but I recognize that some may exploit that narrative. However, I feel great,” he stated.

“I don’t expect to play the full 90 minutes every match, but when I do step onto the pitch, I know I can still perform. I continue to thrive in training and stand out,” he added.

“I certainly don’t fade away during training, so in that sense, I firmly believe I still have much to offer,” he concluded.
